Planned Giving and Endowment Overview
One of the great resources of First Presbyterian in Lockport is a financial legacy — a permanent endowment to support mission and ministry within our congregation and around the globe. Members and friends are encouraged to consider other ways to give to the church, such as considering the church in a Will or making a give of stock. If you would like to discuss these issues, please feel free to contact the Pastor, our Office Manager or our Church Treasurer.
We now have a donation link on this page, which allows friends and members to make donations to the church using their bank account or credit card.

What did Jesus love about the widow’s giving?

He loved the widow’s passionate response to the priceless spiritual gifts she had received. Her loving response to the Lord reflected the completion of the circle of love within her, begun by God. The widow’s attitude stood out from the wealthy; she gave all she had. They gave “out of their wealth.”

Like prayer, worship or even meditation, giving is an exercise of the spirit. When you decide what you should give, close your eyes, bow your head, and put your trust in God’s hands and then make a prayerful, committed determination based not on what you think the church needs or the church budget, but make your determination based on what God is calling you to give. The center of this spiritual exercise is not on the church and its budget, but on your personal relationship to God in your life and what you believe is important.

First Presbyterian Church offers many opportunities to give, beside just financially. Members can also volunteer for our many Standing Committees and as an Officer, such as a Deacon or Elder. Members can also give of their time to one of the many ad hoc or focus groups or small groups, such as Tiffany Window Tours, Mother’s Day Tea, Gardening, Cleaning Crews, Peanut Brittle, Montreat, Ushers, One Great Hour of Sharing, Blanket Sunday, Kitchen Crew, Be Frienders, Lunch Bunch, Concerts, Confirmation Class, Youth Activities and Worship, Knitting Groups, Giving Tree, Christmas Child Boxes, Coats for Cold, Basket Auction, and Canal Clean-up.

We welcome parents and guardians to present their child to be baptized at our church. Neither parent needs to be a member of the church, but at least one parent needs to be a professing Christian. We also welcome adults, who have never been baptized before, to be baptized in our church.

Members of the church have the privilege of participating fully in the life of the church. They can hold offices, like Elder and Deacon; they can request to have their child or a family or friend’s child baptized; they can vote on important matters at congregational meetings; and they can request to have their wedding officiated at the church and receive reduced rates.
